      • (Excerpt from abstract) Some national governments have adopted a wide variety of measures to address violence against women, including legal reform, public education campaigns, and support for shelters and rape crisis centres, but other governments have done little to confront the problem. What accounts for these differences in policy?

Knowledge and Know-How: The Role of Self-Defense in the Prevention of Violence Against Women

      • This study, commissioned by the European Parliament Policy Department for Citizens’ Rights and Constitutional Affairs upon request by the FEMM Committee, examined research on the effectiveness of self-defense and its place in policies at EU and Member State levels. It concludes that there is a growing evidence base that feminist self-defense can be effective in preventing violence.
